Oh the Little things!

What  is it about the little things that shapes our personality, our
behaviour, our perception, to an extent which we might not be able to estimate and so we might ignore it. But yet  it has a huge impact on our actions.

May it be laughing on a friend's joke which we didn't understand.
May it be a small misunderstanding or miscommunication which creates a chain of actions which in turn changes our attitude towards the person or the place or our lives. I have found my own life turning into a totally different direction by having ignored or by caring less about  those little things.

Those little things! A slight negligence by her( or your loved ones)  can make us think of things which never existed. And remember that time when she smiled at you? for no reason? Remember the elation? Oh these small things, desperately forcing us to reciprocate or compliment that feeling.

May it be the rising sun which just takes a minute to rise out of the  horizon  and yet in a minute it  fills us with energy for an entire day!

Or the setting sun, which is transient too,  refreshing  us, relaxing us from the tiredness of an entire day!

May it be a passionate kiss!! :-) - the feeling of which is volatile too, yet it imprints us or a life time! ( OK come back to this blog and you can reminisce later :D )
Or a fight over a silly issue which stretches on and on till it  turns into a huge conflict!!
I wonder why the small things impacts us so severely. Seriously! No?

A friend of mine told me  that his aim of life is to earn as much money as he possibly can. Hmm.
Well,  earning money is good, everyone needs money, but in search of that money, who knows he might be ignoring those small/little/meaningless things, yet meaningful if thought upon. May be they were impacting his future. May be not? I am not sure. But  if yes, they would slowly be  shaping his future, turning him or his circumstances into something which he did not desire, yet  they might be happening because of his own actions. I might be completely wrong. But it gets me thinking about things he might be missing on. May it be having a Chai on a roadside with a close friend, or a quick
joyous banter with his siblings or a reassuring chat with his mother. Oh these little things... Who cares, eh?

Today, as I write this blog on my mobile, while a friend is speeding  through the busy roads, while  another friend is dozing off to the tunes of  crossing winds,  and my minds wanders ....why am I reminded of those small things, Why?

Oh the small little things..!

I remember walking in the rain with her, holding hands, while we were  getting drenched and yet simpering in the streets of MG road. Everything  was so normal yet  breathtaking....yet  mesmerizing as if something had been mixed into the air....making it a heady cocktail in which  our senses were swimming.
The aroma of the wet soil,   the lamps of the hawkers, the designer  lights along the street, and  the fragrance of red roses sold by a little girl,  everything was glowing, everything was so pleasant.  And the cacophonic city noises, oh were they less than any of the favourite  melodious tunes? Was the crowded street bothering me? I was walking  through the clutter so easily, as if it  was meant to. As if nothing could  stop me from completing  that walk with her. Just like the light  passing through the darkness before  dawn, piercing everything on the way,  splintering into numerous beams when obstructed, finding its own way,  the way it was supposed to, the way it was meant to, just so untroubled,  just so natural!  Logically, it was just another day, an everyday story,  but at the same time it was so special, just  that evening - it was inexplicable! Oh the little things...! I am generally not this expressive, but I’m writing this for my friend who once told me "Your jungle is entirely different from  mine". Maybe the jungle is the same.. but we are all victims of the "Butterfly Effect".

Again, talking about the monies here.
Why  things like earning 150k/ month matters more than spending a happy married life with an earning of just 100k . Why be grieving for those 50k and losing on those little things? Why be comparing with the friends  who earn double than you. The person which this line is meant for would get it straightaway. I know I am quite an ant when compared to the latitude of your
greatness.  But I again would share the good ol’ line... “It’s not  having what you want, but wanting  what you’ve got”. I know it sounds like a compromise. But with a little change in perspective , it might feel not just right but actually awesome.

All in all, yes the "big picture" is big! But to all my friends chasing the  big dreams.. Don't miss-out on the wonderful little things ;).

I dedicated my weekend in capturing those little things :)), as many as I could. Would be sharing/spamming soon.

Be happy! You know this needs to be a HAPPY NEW YEAR!  And you might go lucky! :) Have fun! :))

btw these lines are exquisite "It’s not having what you want, but wanting what you have". woh kehte hain na "Ghar ki Murgi daal barabar"!!!

  5. Walk down the rainy street story was epic. Throughout our lives, we are lucky to pick up a moment or two that remains etched on our minds and hearts (and perhaps into the fabric of our souls).. the details of which may never escape our memories. Perhaps if the details fade, the way we felt during those times will not, if we are lucky.

When I first read your bits about chasing money as the most important singular goal in life, I agreed instantly. Your friend surbi has made me think a bit deeper. In the spirit of friendly discussion on an interesting piece from Vamsi's mind, I don't agree that some people simply have no talent for human compassion, at least not from birth. Perhaps from habit or misguided goals. I'm not religious in any way, but I am spiritual enough to ask: if not for love and friendship, then why are we here? To consume as much as we can and then die? Surely not. If so, then what a cruel and pointless fate it is to be human.

People whose sole drive is to accumulate riches while spending an incredible amount of time working during the prime years of their life seem to me to have a poor understanding of how life works. While riches may allow you to drive a nicer car to work or live in a more lavish abode, what is the point if you are not forming any lasting relationships with the world around you? By the time you slow down to enjoy the wealth, body will have aged and true friendships will have soured. But hey, you have the money to attract a 20 year old gold digger while you're old and gross, right?

In short, I think some people just may be afraid (myself included sometimes) to truly find something that makes us happy rather than wealthy. That fear can definitely lead to a person who is incapable of loving, a person who WANTS that gold digger and feels proud to have her. That person, in my eyes, is an immature, stunted soul, like a twisted old dead tree that sprouts a leaf or two every now and then but is clearly no longer a tree.

Life is too short to spend it behind a computer, a desk, or on red-eye flights in pursuit of nothing but wealth. At least for those of us who are privileged enough to be able to afford things like the internet, shelter, food, education.. it is easy for us to work hard. Working hard to those of our 'class' at the expense of the more valuable aspects of LIFE is the easy way out for us. We could bury ourselves in our 'success' like the impoverished bury themselves under drugs. Vamsi's work warns me of the danger of doing that.

    Great work, Krish!

  6. Hello JB,

I am glad I made you think deeper...:) I would like to put my thoughts to some of the views I did noticed from your reply.

Spirituality is not synonymous to Love and friendship.
Spirituality is a belief of an individual, to which they relate the most and feel at their best when in to it.
For a foodie food is spiritual
For a Chef cooking is Spiritual
For a traveler visiting new places, art, culture is spiritual
For a Shoe maker making Shoe is spiritual
Likewise for someone Money making is spiritual..(I believe money making is an art more than just math)
And I feel there is nothing wrong about it(as long as it is within the laws of the country and greater good of your slef and ppl around).

Its because of this spirituality (money making) that, people have traveled places, Globalization has occured, empires are built, Art and architecture has developed.
In this world everything has its own place..and I am not against Love. I truly believe its a very powerful emotion, but sometimes it overshadows the rest, sometimes it's advertized a bit more.

  7. Thanks everyone :)
@Soumen: I don't want to confuse scare with adventure :P
    @Surbi: Thanks :D .. and I hope that don't make a bollywood song out of that ;P ..
@Johnnyboy: Thank you sir, really really appreciate for sharing your thoughts and for liking my work :D

@Johhnyboy and Surbi: Well, you are the most creative people I've known in my friend circle. I am glad that you guys had put your views across. Although, I know these facts stand correct from either perspective. I myself think that it's a matter of choice. A choice with suits the individual. Another friend of mine told me that it's also a matter of luck. If one is fortunate enough to find a person who loves for something other than wealth/status and that one in turn loves that person like mad, one would go above the power of wealth, otherwise one would always have met gold diggers. I couldn't agree more. But again, my view was to reach a balance, while one is busy earning money, one should also not ignore those little things of life :). Those things makes most of the person's memories. Those are things which would matter in the end ( only my opinion :D ). And yeah, thanks again for sharing your views!
